Because this dynamic duo looks like us

A well-read Bookstagrammer I respect posted recently that she is supporting Trump and Vance because she feels that the Democrats have not approached her from a position of joy about the issues she cares about. I’d like to do so here.

I am overjoyed that a majority of Americans stand on a vast expanse of common ground. Together, we believe that if we work hard we should earn a good living for ourselves and our families; we believe that an enriching public school education should benefit our minds and our careers; we believe that hardworking, taxpaying Americans should not suffer with poor health care and inadequate housing while the top 1 percent of the nation’s earners don’t pay their fair share; we believe in cherishing and enjoying the natural world; we believe in basic human dignity; we are all, ultimately, pro-life.

Together, we believe in the American dream of freedom and prosperity and equality for all.

Harris and Walz will govern from that common ground. Just as they have in their public lives thus far, they will continue to work tirelessly to bring us together around our shared values. Their message about America is one of compassion not fear, respect not contempt, and hope not hate.

This dynamic duo looks like us, and they will lead our country into its future, which is as beautiful as Yosemite, as shiny as the Empire State Building, and as open and full of possibility as the plains.

I can see it. Can you?
